Late Snacks Cause Snoring
Cutting down on food before sleeping can help stop snoring Picture this; Its late, you wander into the kitchen for that late night snack, and you serve yourself a large slice of cake, or maybe a bowl of cereal or even a sandwich. You finish your snack and take yourself off to bed and go to sleep… then you feel the hands of your spouse trying to wake you to tell you to stop snoring so they can get some sleep too. The problem of snoring is actually quite a serious one not only for the snorer who isn’t really getting a relaxed night’s sleep but mostly for the person who is at their side (or sometimes even in the next room). Disturbed sleep can be the cause of stress, fatigue and is contributory to many other ailments too. It may be quite simple stopping snoring for good however by simply changing our diet and our eating patterns a little. If you eat directly before going to bed then your stomach hasn’t got the time to digest the food properly before it goes to sleep. The food sits heavy on your stomach and on your diaphragm which is what causes the snoring.
If you have snoring problems and you normally eat late at night then it might be worth adjusting your eating habits a little so that you don’t go to sleep whilst your stomach is still digesting food. Either eat earlier or go to bed later. You will sleep better for it and you might even cure yourself of snoring and stop snoring free. Even morning your mealtime forward a matter of an hour or so might be enough to curb your snoring. This small change may have a huge change on your life and that of your partner if it manages to stop your snoring. If you are accustomed to eating snacks at night whilst watching television for example then this might also be a cause for snoring. The type of snack may be changed to something lighter to enable digestion to tale place quicker. Honey can have a positive effect on the airways so if you are eating snacks at night then you might want to try changing your late night snack for one of apple covered in honey for example. You might also try drinking tea with honey. Not only will this clear your airways helping you not to snore but will probably help you get to sleep too. The general points to be aware of are; Try not to eat late in the day Avoid late night snacks Avoid food that is difficult to digest
